And in appropriate response to such sacrifices on the part of our brave American veterans in this last war or two, I say we should treat them better. The Bush Administration for the last eight years has treated them badly and only given them lip-service, especially after asking them to fight two wars. I don't care whether you're Republican or Democrat or Green Party or whatever on this one, this is purely an American issue and we should make for damn sure that our American veterans are:
Given the right equipment for the war we've asked them to fight
Asked to do what is reasonable and not bring them back time-and-time again to get killed
Give them their due benefits and not deny them through red tape and bureaucracy
Given the medical care they deserve when wounded in battle, especially with the extremely common Traumatic Brain Injury victims
Recognition of what they've gone through
Provided a support network so the vets leaving the service don't go homeless and lose everything after volunteering to fight for our nation.
These people fought for us, wrong war or no, and we should do more than just say "thank you" for their service and walk away! We should demand better from our government to take care of them!
(I did not write any of the articles listed above, they're all historical articles easily found with a Google Search)
For our veterans, past, present, and future... PEACE! And may our next administration treat them better!
